What is it?
A role-playing game or RPG is where one acts out the role of a character for the purposes of entertainment. We use a text-based system to play out scenes with characters in a world inspired from that created by JK Rowling in the Harry Potter novels.
What will I need?
You'll need to download SimpleMU, a shareware program which is very simple to use & set up (hence the name!). Then you'll need to set up a connection to us.
File>>New Connection Wizard
Site Address: 207.245.68.61
Port Number: 5555
Type of game: MUSH, MUX or MOO
Site Name: HP:I&D
When this is done you need to:
File>>Connect to...>>HP:I&D
Type "create <name> < password>" (without quotes or brackets & putting in the name of your character & the password to log in again.)
Read the on-screen instructions to view our policies, or check them out on the web-site(will link here). If you agree to abide by them then type "+agree" to go through to CharGen.
CharGen is where new characters are built. There are on-screen instructions which are fairly simple to follow, but if you're new to MUSHes there will usually be a member of staff on hand to help you out, either Kayleigh or Ruth. To see if we're on, type "WHO" for a list of players currently connected. To communicate to staff simply type "=new <text>".
If no staff are on & you get stuck you can leave a note here on this account & we'll get back to you as soon as we can. If you quit or close the connection anything you did with the character up to that point will be saved. If you go & come back you need to type "conn <name> < password>".
When you get through all the steps on CharGen, you submit your character for approval. We will do our best to contact you as soon as possible in this regard. You may need to make changes but if not you'll be allowed into the game-playing area!
How do I play?
As mentioned before HP:I&D is text-based which means imagination is required, however our world is navigable. Each room has a description as to what it looks like, what is in it, *who* is in it & a list of exits & entrances. You can move throughout Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade & more depending on who your character is eg. a first year student is not allowed to go to Hogsmeade whenever they wish.
There are logs, that is records of scenes played out from the previous incarnation of the game, available to read here.
This might give you an idea of the kind of things we get up to & the level of literacy that is required.
Theme, policy, features?
Our main web-site as well as the game itself has an explanation of the theme of the game, our policies for gameplay & a list of feature characters which we require players for. All new players need to create a unique character & play them before they can take on the role of one of the better known characters in the books.
How do I contribute to the gallery?
The gallery is for artwork & logs created for/inspired by gameplay in HP:I&D. If you have anything you would like to submit either e-mail it to us or note us with a link to the work in your own gallery.
Other notes
If you have played with us previously & would like your character to return please send a note to this effect. Provided you had not been banned we will be happy to reinstate you bearing in mind that all events that happened to your character previously will not have occured. The game restarts at the beginning of the school year.
The HP:I&D team

I'm publisingh a fanfiction magazine, first issue on the 15th: This is for fanfiction, but I'll take any sort of fanart: pictures, poetry, maps, whatever.
If this is sometyhing you're interested in, please send an e-mail to fanficmag@gmail.com
To subscribe won't cost you a dime; but by the same token, I can't pay you nothing for your contributions; sorry.
The good news is, if you get published, that's writing credit, which improves your chances of getting any original fiction published.
Why am I coming to you? Simple.
Y'see, I've already got enough stories contributed to publish an issue, but the majority of them are on Games Workshop games(Warhammer, and Warhammer 40,00).
I want to offer my readers a full variety of fanfiction, including Star Wars, Star Trek, anime, superheros, whatever.
So, I searched for Werewolf fan fiction, pulled up the first ten or so entries, and here I am.
So like I said, if this is something you're interested in, to contribute to, or just to read, please send an e-mail to fanficmag@gmail.com
